Maritime Academy Mourns Otunba Kunle Folarin


The death of the maritime encyclopedia, Otunba Kunle Folarin has been described as been too sudden by the Crown Maritime Academy (CMA).

The board of trustees, governing council, academic board, management and staff, as well as cadets and senior students of the academy have been expressing with shock, consoling with the family members, friends and colleagues of the late maritime scholar.

The feelings and reflection on the sudden departure of Otunba Folarin,  were conveyed by Dr. Musa Akinyemi, Rector, CMA conveyed to the press and maritime media at the Academy's Main Campus in Lagos.

"I had known Otunba Kunle Folarin since the 1990s when he was working with Alraine and I was a staff of the National Maritime Authority (NMA) which is now NIMASA. Then, he was popular with the title, Mr. It was later he bagged the Otunba title.


"All of the Crown Maritime Academy, CMA community, the Rector mourned, would definitely miss the departed Nigeria's shipping encyclopedia," the Rector said.

 Dr. Akinyemi saw the Otunba Folarin as yet full of energy and service when, "l featured with him last in Ikoyi, Lagos at the 5th Annual Nigerian Maritime Students And Youth Conference where he Moderated Captain Ogusakin's paper and I was the Discussant, Representing Maritime Institutions in Nigeria", Akinyemi noted.
